Marine Lighting

Lighting is one of the most important aspects of marine fishkeeping.

Whilst a system for FISH ONLY only needs the light to see the inhabitants the lights are a large part of the life support system for many INVERTEBRATES, particularly corals and ANEMONES.

We sell METAL HALIDES  and T5 LIGHTING SYSTEMS mostly from stock and anything not currently stocked can be obtained within a few days.

Soft corals and LPS corals do not need as intense a light source as SPS corals and in most cases (unless you want a SPS dominated tank with its associated low nutrient regime ) T5'S or 150WATT Metal halides will be the light of choice. At present LED'S are (although not experimental) considered by most to be not quite " there"

ARCADIA "retro" light starters are our starter of choice as our whole Shop uses these electronic ballasts teamed with GUISEMANN t5 tubes to give a strong and even light.

We use these over our MARINE DISPLAY TANK in a mix of 3 blue, 2 white, 1 purple and 1 Aquaray led for shimmer.

We recommend the use of GUISEMANN tubes in a mix of

    WHITE    (called AQUA BLUE for some strange reason!)

    BLUE       (called actinic plus and is actually a very strong blue light
                         and is a blue with large percentage of white)

    PURPLE    (called PURE ACTINIC  WHICH IS ACTUALLY TRUE)

We recommend mostly white and blue tubes with some purple 

    These  tubes are stocked in 24, 39, and 80 watt sizes.
